The table below organizes unit plans by grade level.  Feel free to copy and modify any and all materials.

All of the materials are modular. Feel free to adopt one or more units, a single lesson, or a single activity.

High School (9-12)Energy Efficient HomesStudents will learn about how climate change and the Greenhouse effect is increasing the temperatures of Iowa summers.  They will learn how to do an energy score report so they can analyze their own home and decide what changes their family could make in order to prepare for the hotter summers in Iowa by making their home more energy efficient.
 
High School (9-12)How Much Wind is Enough?Students create an evidence-based argument as to whether a new wind farm should be built in Iowa.
 
High School (9-12)Energy and Its UsesStudents examine different types of energy resources used in Iowa and their effects on natural systems.
 
High School (9-12)High Electric BillsStudents will conduct a cost-benefit analysis on four different sources for generating electricity to determine which source would be most beneficial for their community’s situation.
 
High School (9-12)Power Up for EVStudents will evaluate electric vehicle energy usage and cost and determine what energy sources will best meet the demand given the current electrical grid.
